Sugar City, Idaho, with the snow-capped mountains behind it, where FyberCom completed its fiber build

IDAHO FALLS, ID — FyberCom, East Idaho's most trusted locally-owned fiber internet provider, today announced the completion of its full Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network build throughout Sugar City, Idaho — delivering true fiber optic internet to 100% of residences and businesses within the city limits. The completion marks a defining milestone in one of Idaho's most significant broadband infrastructure investments: a $13,673,938 public-private partnership between FyberCom and Madison County, funded through the Idaho Broadband Grant Program.

As part of the partnership, FyberCom constructed an 18-mile open-access, mid-mile fiber transport backbone stretching across Madison County from Twin Bridges to Sugar City — a feat of infrastructure engineering that now forms the foundation for multi-gigabit connectivity across the county. The project connects an estimated 3,000 previously unserved or underserved homes to high-speed broadband while simultaneously equipping 5,000 homes with state-of-the-art multi-gigabit service.

“Sugar City, you asked for fiber — we built you 18 miles of it. We didn't just bring fiber to Sugar City. We brought the future. And we did it the right way — with a partner in Madison County who had the vision to make it happen.”

— Jared Stowell, CEO, FyberCom LLC

Symmetrical fiber, up to 10 Gig

Sugar City residents and businesses now have access to FyberCom's full lineup of symmetrical fiber internet plans, with speeds up to 10 Gigabits per second. FyberCom's most popular package — 2.5 Gbps symmetrical with Whole Home Wi-Fi — is engineered for the demands of modern households: simultaneous 4K streaming on every screen, rock-solid video conferencing, ultra-fast cloud backups, and lag-free gaming, all at the same time without degradation.

The network is built on leading-edge fiber optic technology, with 40-Gigabit capable customer premise equipment installed at every location. This future-proof hardware means residents will access faster speeds as they become available — without any equipment changes, truck rolls, or service interruptions. The investment being made today is built to last decades.

Built for one of East Idaho's most connected communities

Sugar City is a community on the move. According to broadband data, 14% of Sugar City residents work from home — higher than the Idaho state average — and 29% are enrolled in school between 6th grade and college level, significantly above the Idaho average of 18%. With BYU-Idaho and the greater Rexburg community just minutes away, Sugar City's households are among the most internet-dependent in East Idaho. FyberCom's fiber network is purpose-built for exactly this kind of community.

The open-access architecture of FyberCom's mid-mile backbone is particularly significant: it allows multiple internet service providers to utilize the same infrastructure, lowering prices and expanding choice for Madison County residents over the long term.

“This is not just a fiber project — it is a long-term infrastructure investment that will position Madison County as a leader in broadband connectivity for years to come. Our investment in open-access infrastructure and multi-gigabit fiber will ensure that Madison County residents, businesses, and institutions have world-class connectivity and the tools they need to thrive in today's digital economy.”
